Gardening is a wonderful activity to do as a family, and is a great way to bring everyone together to experience not only the great outdoors, but also how to grow healthy and mindful food for our families to eat.

Get your children in the garden as soon as they are old enough to help. Have your children help weed the garden, or rake out all the grass before the seeds are placed in the ground. Children also love creating decorative labels to properly monitor what seeds are planted where. While many young children will not be able to operate weed eaters, tillers, and other dangerous equipment, they can still help plant seeds and watch them grow. Harvest time is a perfect time to involve children in the garden, because it allows them to see the fruits of their labor and to pick delicious and healthy vegetables, and to see how they grow. The earlier you teach children about gardening and healthy eating, the sooner they will come to realize that eating healthy can be fun.

Massage therapy is one of the most relaxing ways you can alleviate pain and reduce stress in your body. Most of us hold stress in our bodies and don’t realize it. Massage therapy, when used regularly, can remove this harmful stress in our body and help our bodies move easily and with more flexibility.

Getting a regular massage is a great way to relieve soreness from work strains, manual labor, exercise and other daily activities that can damage our bodies. Many people feel that regular massage also releases toxins that become trapped in our body. From deep tissue to sports massage, there are also different types of massages that are specifically tailored to your needs. Some people prefer to get massages to physical therapy and other more mainstream forms of medicine because it is less invasive and is more affordable. As healthcare costs increase, people are searching for alternative forms of medicine. Determine if massage therapy is an appropriate way for you to relieve pain in your life, or simply enjoy the occasional massage to relax your body and ease your stress.

Now is the time for gorgeous spring vegetables. While they may not be available in your own garden just yet, you may be able to find many spring vegetables at your local farmer’s market. Take spring’s bounty home with you and enjoy wonderful spring salads.

You may have arugula in your backyard garden, and if you don’t it is easy to find at the farmer’s market. Take arugula and radishes and chop them up with some lemon juice for a refreshing spring salad. Another refreshing salad is to slice some snap peas, carrots, and onion and toss them in a light vinaigrette for a light and healthy take on coleslaw. Many fresh herbs are starting to grow, including chives, basil and parsley. If you have these herbs in your backyard garden, be sure to add them to all your spring salads for a bright flavor that’s fresh and natural. Feeding your family great salads that are good for them all spring long is easy when you take advantage of all the vegetables and herbs available in the spring.

It’s time to stop thinking of your outdoor garden as only the place where you grow vegetables. More and more people are tending to the overall aesthetic of their garden, and creating an area where they can entertain guests while enjoying the beauty of nature.

One of the major components that will take your garden from a small area, to an entertaining oasis is garden furniture. Small benches, a beautiful pergola, or even a full set of iron, wood, or wicker furniture will invite guests to enjoy the beauty of your garden, while spending time in a relaxing outdoor area all season long. Consider the climate where you live, and invest in garden furniture that is appropriate for the area. If you get a lot of rain, vinyl furniture may be your best bet. Drier climates will do well with wooden furniture, but if it gets too hot you may want to avoid metal furniture that can burn skin! Once you choose the garden furniture that’s right for you, you can create natural areas of shade, and build garden areas around the furniture to create a private area for you and your guests to relax in. Garden entertaining is a beautiful way to spend time with loved ones, so invest in furniture that will let you do so all summer long.
